Show Notes

Description: When we are under stress, our body and mind can go into a state of hyper-alertness, activating the fight-or-flight response in order to survive the perceived threat. But oftentimes this response, producing cortisol and subsequent inflammation, can negatively effect our health and contribute to disease states. Dr. Donna Rockwell leads us through this Stop-Breathe-Notice-Reflect-Respond (SBNRR) meditation to mitigate the stress response and reactivate the prefrontal cortex, where logic, reason, and executive functioning are what's really needed in the moment.

As a service to our larger community, Saybrook University is offering a daily mindful moment through July, beginning at 12:13 PM Eastern/9:13 AM Pacific. Designed to be 15 minutes in length, our Mind-Body Medicine faculty have banded together to provide these sessions as a source of centering and solace in these extraordinary times.
